Pendraic prompt library
Pendraic ships 60+ curated AI quick-actions covering the entire writing arc: brainstorming the idea, planning the structure, building characters and worlds, drafting scenes, polishing prose, and the final edit pass. Every prompt is opinionated, lean, and aware of your project's Promise, voice, and active beat.
Categories
The right-rail prompt library has filter chips at the top of the Pendraic tab. Each chip shows how many prompts live in that cluster.
- Starter — Unblock-me prompts. The headline one is Start this chunk (smart): it walks a fallback ladder from outline → metadata → prior prose → blank slate so it always produces forward motion no matter how empty the scene is.
- Plan — Story idea, premise, hook, structure recommendations, outline shaping, ending options.
- Structure — Chapter and scene shaping: generate scene lists, plan the next scene, start or end a scene, sharpen the turn.
- Character — Create protagonists, supporting roles; deepen motivation, add flaws, differentiate voice, map the relationship web.
- World — Build the foundation, magic, politics, religion, economy, locations, history; check consistency; find gaps.
- Prose — Tighten, rewrite for clarity or flow, deepen POV, improve dialogue, adjust tone, match voice.
- Edit — Humanize, strip AI-isms, proofread, line edit, copy edit, polish, diagnose scene.
Requirement badges
Every prompt declares what you need to do BEFORE you click, shown as a color-coded badge on the prompt card:
- Highlight requiredThe prompt runs on the highlighted text. Click without selecting first and the prompt refuses with a hint instead of doing nothing silently.
- Cursor anywherePosition the cursor wherever in the editor. The prompt uses the prose around your cursor as context.
- Works anywhereClick anytime. Doesn't need a selection or even a cursor position. Runs from project metadata + voice + world only.
- Highlight optionalHighlight a passage if you want the prompt focused there; otherwise it falls back to the surrounding scene.
Cloning to your library
Pendraic-curated prompts are read-only — you can't edit their bodies directly. That's by design: the curated set is centrally maintained and gets better over time without you needing to do anything. But if you want to tweak a prompt, click the Clone button (copy icon) on any Pendraic row. That drops a fully editable copy into your My library tab where you can rename it, edit the body, add a slash shortcut, or delete it whenever you want.
The cloned copy is yours. Future updates to the original Pendraic prompt won't overwrite your version.
Customizing the floating quick-actions palette
The little palette that appears above your highlighted text (Rewrite, Continue, Describe, Humanize, Brainstorm) is configurable. Click the gear icon at the right end of the palette to open settings. From there you can hide actions you never use, reorder the ones you keep, or reset to the defaults. Your choice persists per browser.
What carries through automatically
Every Pendraic prompt runs against the full PENDRAIC context bundle without you needing to ask: the project Promise, active beat, voice profile, world rules, and registry entries already in scene. Bodies stay lean because the context is already there. When you customize a prompt or write your own, you can lean on the same auto-prepended bundle — no token plumbing needed.
