Tiers & billing

Pendraic ships a tier-based plan model. Each tier gates a set of quotas and feature flags; tier changes take effect on the next request without token revocation.

What tiers gate

  • Active project count, quota of how many non-archived, non-trashed projects you can keep at once. Archive a project to free a slot.
  • AI rate limits, calls per day and per burst, shared across the inline palette, Penny chat, custom prompts, MCP, and the cover generator.
  • Failover chain, Pro+ tiers can configure a 4-slot failover chain for AI calls.
  • MCP server access, Pro+ tiers can connect external MCP clients (Claude Desktop, etc.) to Pendraic via an OAuth flow.
  • Pendraic Managed AI, a credit wallet for writers who'd rather not manage their own provider keys. Top up in packs from Account → Billing.

Where to manage

Account → Billing. Sub-pages show your current plan, historical usage, invoices, and cancel / change-plan flows.

Cost model

Two ways to power AI in Pendraic. Bring your own provider API key and your provider invoice is the only AI bill you'll see; Pendraic's subscription covers the platform itself (the editor, World Builder, Story Index, Penny chat, exports, covers, prompt library). Or use Pendraic Managed AI: top up a credit wallet from Billing and write without thinking about API keys. Your prompts and your manuscripts are never used to train any AI model and never sold for any purpose, on either path.
